WELCOMEWelcome to the official home of the York University Equestrian Club. The goal of our club is to bring York University horse enthusiasts together! We cater to multiple disciplines and all levels. Throughout the year we hold several events and clinics for all active members. If you are interested in joining the club or one of our teams check out this website.In addition to our Club we also have a competetive hunt-seat equitation riding team. Our Ontario University Equestrian Association team competes on a catch riding equitation circuit in Ontario against 15 other universities.
Club
THE CLUB Any York University student or faculty member is welcome to join the club at any time throughout the year. The membership fee is $20.00 for the year. The membership has many benefits, including:Becoming a part of the lesson program at a discounted rate, taking part in social events, clinics and information sessions. Check out our events page for what you can look forward to this year.If you are interested in becoming a member of the Club, you may purchase your membership online any time through out the year. For more information you can e-mail via our Contact page. Our club co-ordinator will respond to your e-mail within two business days.
Lessons
LESSONSThe Equestrian Club is riding out of Raynham Stables this year. The farm sits in beautiful King Township only 25 minutes from York University. The facility has two indoor arenas, 3 outdoor rings and over 20 expereienced school horses! Lessons are taught by certified coaches (Level 2 and 3). The farm also holds in house schooling shows, that club members are welcome to take part in. Lessons cost $32.50 plus HST, for a 1 hour group lesson. This amazing deal is only for York University Equestrian Club Members. Once your first lesson is set up please arrive 1 hour before your lesson begins with proper attire (certified helmet, boots with a maximum 1 in heel, and form fitting clothing, please avoid baggy clothing). Please note that we do not offer a carpool system, or a shuttle, personal transportation is needed.
OUEA
OUEAThe York University Equestrian Team shows on the Ontario University Equestrian Association in Ontario.The OUEA shows are catch riding events. The host school draws and provides each rider with a horse for competition on the day of the show. You do not need your own horse to show on the OUEA circuit. There are 4 divisions and 8 classes which run throughout the day, ranging from crossrails to 3' courses. The York U OUEA show team is chosen by tryouts held at the start of the school year. Stay tuned for more information regarding tryouts.
